Feb 14, 2014 - Back in France

After a day of rest in Salamanca we decided we would cover the miles and travel to St Jean de Luz in France (289 miles). There was a strong wind but it was a lovely sunny day. When we had travelled this route down the weather had been wet and misty. As we got nearer to the Pyrenees the scenery changed from boring plains to stunning mountain vistas. We arrived at the campground we had used before in St Jean de Luz and quickly got set up. We plan to stay for three nights and then head north again.

Apr 17, 2012 - Saint Jean Du Luz

Well here I am again and would you believe its raining. We have travelled down as far as Biarritz which is absolutely stunning. Beautiful blue bays surrounded by mountains, Lots of very rich people but no available men - we have searched the bars and cafes relentlessly with wine and cocktails enjoyed along the way. We are now very happy despite the rain and planning to move on to San Sebastian in Spain tomorrow morning. Our met office in Lyminge forecast storms for tomorrow but we are hoping to avoid these by moving on rapidly and who knows...

Sep 12, 2011 - Royan to St. Jean-de-Luz

12 Sept: Royan to St. Jean-de-Luz. Finally set off for Arcachon at 5.30am. The channel out of the Gironde estuary was unlit and we only narrowly missed one of the buoys, despite the moonlight! The wind was more southerly than forecast, so we had to tack which slowed us down. In the morning, a plane flew very low over us, presumably checking us out as there is quite a lot of military activity in that area. Apart from that it wasn’t a very interesting sail, with miles and miles of sand dunes along the coast and very little in the way of...

Oct 16, 2010 - St Jean de Luz

From time to time, the school organizes optional outings for the foreign students. The first trip was to St Jean de Luz, a small town along the ocean between Biarritz and San Sebastian. We had the choice between just taking the bus straight there and doing whatever we wanted or getting off in Guethary and hiking along the coast to St Jean de Luz. Since I didn't really know anyone on the trip, I decided to go on the hike. On the bus ride there, the korean student from my class sat next to me and we got to know eachother a little. In the end...
