Today we made a visit to the Medoc region. Located on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, north of Bordeaux the area is well known as a wine growing region. In fact there are about 1500 wineyards in the district. These are divided into areas depending on the type and quality of grape grown, and this depends on the variety of soils in the area. Grapevines grow well on well drained sloping soils and at the bottom of the hills you can see vegetables grown or the area used for cattle.
