This morning we drove from Bordeaux to an area around Cadillac (sounds like cad e ack – no l sound) know as the Sauternais region which is the only place in the world where Sauterne sweet wines are produced. They are VERY sweet and it was very interesting how they are gown. First we were treated to an exclusive artisanal wine-pairing lunch at Chateau Royal de Cazeneuve which was built by King Henri IV. May 15, 2015 - May 11 Cadillac and Sauternes

Monday included a walk around Cadillac - pronounced cad-e-ac. Truthfully, I cannot pull up a memory of the town. In the afternoon, We were driven into the country to visit Chateau de Roquetaillade, a memorable experience. The free standing tower dates to the 12 th century. The chateau itself is surrounded by a dry moat. That day 2 goats with big horns were in residence. The castle had been remodeled inthe 1850's. Aug 11, 2007 - Saint Emilion - Cadillac

Met onze zwaarbeladen fietsen gaan wij nog een keer door Saint Emilion. Op de Place de l'Eglise Monolithe speelt een combootje met saxofoon, mandoline en accordeon veertigerjarenmuziek. Enkele Franse toeristen kijken bewonderend naar onze fietsen. Zulke vlindersturen zijn in Frankrijk onbekend. De Fransen tonen grote bewondering voor sportievelingen. Zoals ook in andere plaatsen komen ze belangstellend vragen stellen over onze fietsen, onze plaats van vertrek, onze bestemming, de afstanden, de zwaarte van de tocht. Rianne trakteert mij op...
