After a good sleep in Cadouin, no sailing to keep us up, we rode a whole twelve klms today but the ups and downs of it took quite some time. Very pleasant, sunny, quiet, no map checking, no cars and green as green can be. Arrived in Belves, yet another stunningly pretty medieval town from around the 11 th century, they just keep coming! Too pretty to pass through and a train station nearby, so found a nice room and a beer and took the afternoon off. The weather is heating up and more to come they say. May 23, 2005 - France -- Dordogne

Day 50 - Mon May 23 to Beynac (Dordogne) (Chris) Finally a sleep-in day, then we drove out toward Beynac, almost due South. The first stretch of road was fast, and the 2nd not so fast. About 2/3 of the way to Beynac, we stopped off at Oradour sur Glaine, which is a memorial for the ~600 victims of a brutal Nazi massacre. Just after D-Day on June 10, as the Allies were approaching, Nazi SS troops rounded up the entire population of this French village and executed them. Men, women, children, seniors, babies... they were all killed. The women...
