I headed off for a couple of days in Tampere and the journey from Helsinki by train was something new in itself. As you’d expect, the trains are very clean, punctual and smooth, but the train I booked was a double-decker train, which was a first for me. Sitting on the top deck you had a great view of the countryside, although there was not a great deal to see as southern Finland is very flat! As I got off the train, I noticed that the temperature was a heck of a lot colder than Helsinki; the public thermometers were reading around 7C!...

Ahhhhh, finally back in Finland, to the land of email and communication! Hmmmn so what have the last 4 weeks entailed for Will and I on our Scandinavian adventure?.... ah yes we had just arrived in Tampere. Its the easter long weekend as we arrive so we are lucky enough to have our own personal tourguide for the weekend, Mr Jokinen. The train to Tampere was untra modern luxery, there was even a socket in the seat for ear plugs so that you can listen to the local radio stations. I had one strange moment on the train though. I had boarded the train and not taken the seat number printed on the ticket as the train was almost empty and I wanted to sit elsewhere. I had my backpack with me and was listening to my mp3 player when this girl tapped me on the shoulder and told me that I was in her seat.
