Feb 26, 2010 - Modriki Island Fiji

This is the real Tom Hanks Island. The film Castaway was filmed here. We had a great day on a sailboat that took us here on Modriki Island for snorkeling and than lunch and a visit to Yanuya Island, for a village tour. We where able to have a sip of KAVA with the Chiefs of the Island and do some shopping with the villagers.

Feb 22, 2010 - Mamanuca Group Fiji

Today we departed via Catamaran Ferry to our Island Resort on Malolo. Malolo Island is one of the larger Islands in the Mamanuca Group. The weather and trip was great. We departed at noon and stopped at 5 Islands before arriving at our great resort. The Resort just finished with a major renovation and it showed. We had a deal of pay for 3 stay 5. We did have Internet in the Lobby via Radio signal but we did not have TV in the Room which we did not miss

FYI - Fiji comprises of approximately 330 islands, about one - third are inhabited. It covers about 1.3 million square kilometers of the South Pacific Ocean. The two major islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. After nearly a century as British colony, Fiji became independent in 1970. We flew into Nadi, on the island of Viti Levu, to transfer by boat to an island within the group called the Mamanuca Islands - Castaway Island. Bula!! (Hello, welcome!!)
