May 15, 2006 - Korovo Eco Resort, Naviti Island to Kuata Natural Resort, Kuata Island

They again had a village trip this morning which we couldn't make as we were checking out today and heading on for the next island. Pity! Instead, I went on the herbal medicine walk with Moses which was really interesting but I doubt I'll remember the look / name of the leaves (well I remembered one name - 'one in a million' but can't remember what it looked like ... see what i mean!) but rest assured should you cut yourself or have toothpaste whilst you're visiting the island - you will have no problem! After the herbal walk they had a...

Apr 29, 2006 - Bounty 'Celebrity Love' Island Resort

The last night of our Ultimate Lei was spent on the celebrity love island (as we've been away this meant nothing to us) of Bounty and you could tell by the accomodation that this was one of the flashier islands. We had a gorgeous Bure literally on the beach front and we got another amazing sunset to enjoy our last night on the Yasawas. We had great food and met some lovely english girlies, enjoying the resorts fabulous food and cocktails.

Apr 24, 2006 - Yasawa Islands - MantaRay Resort

Our 'Ultimate Lei' Awesome Adventure began early morning on Monday the 24th April. We left the Nadi Bay Hotel and took the big yellow coach to Denarau to catch our big yellow Yasawa Flyer to the beautiful Yasawa Islands. From the moment we left land we realised how special these Islands are, with no phones, atms, newspapaers and really any contact to the outside world it really is like nowhere we've been. The paradise of the rest of the world no longer existing cannot really be put into words but they don't brand themselves awesome...

Mar 28, 2006 - Yasawa Islands - Day 3

Sanawai Resort, Yaqeta - Manta Ray Resort, Nanuya Balavu We got up in time for sunrise this morning, which was beautiful. Then went vack to bed for a bit before getting up for breakfast. Jette was not impressed by her last night at Sanawai and was very tired. katie found it all quite amusing. After breakfast we unpacked and repacked our rucksacks to make sure Ray and any of his other Cockroach buddies weren't trying to stow away! Then we played some fianl games of cards with Joe before he made us lunch. It was then time to say goodbye to...

Dec 7, 2005 - The Wannataki Cruise

The Wanataki Cruise was packed full of free activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, movies, board games and great food. Unfortunately Joanne was feeling sea sick again so was in bed early the first night whilst Peter stayed up playing drinking games with the lads. He also managed to neck 12 bowls of Kava only to find himself going back and forth to the toilet for the rest of the night. We decided to go snorkelling on the second day in a nice bay just off the island of Naviti. After being in the sea for five minutes and seeing some of the...

Dec 1, 2005 - Waya Island, Yasawa, Fiji

Fiji is absolute paradise...where time slows down for the rest of the world to catch up. Relaxation is inevitable here and visible in the locals. The people of Fiji are peaceful, kind and friendly. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a trio playing Fijian music. We spent a night in Nadi at Aquarius Resort. It was simple accommodation with a dining area overlooking the pool and ocean. Everything we needed was right there with no need to leave. After the first night, we took a 90-minute boat ride to Octopus Resort on Waya Island in the Yasawa...

May 28, 2005 - Another Bay with COCONUTS!!!!

COCONUT BAY YASAWA ISLANDS We got a welcome song when we arrived by the entire staff. We had three days at Coconut Bay. We did a bit of snorkelling where dad and I saw a school or group or something of squid, they swam backwards and we saw three or four moorish idol fish which are my favourite fish. On the second day we went out on the boat and snorkelled at the coral garden, which had some really cool coral, but there were little jellyfish in the water that annoyingly stung us. On the way back we stopped at Mantary Pass and snorkelled with...

HOMELESS

Apr 16, 2005 - Fiji 2

The weather took a wee turn for the worse in the second part of the week so not too much sun bathing going on but still managed to squeeze in plenty chilling-out. We spent Wednesday and Thursday night on a wee island called Kuata, in the south of the Yasawa group of islands (you can have a wee look at the Fiji map on the homepage if you want to see where it is). The island is pretty rocky with only a wee bit of beach so you can't really walk round it but we canoed round it in about an hour, so it's fairly small. The place where we were...

Jan 1, 2005 - toward the end of the first month in fiji

Rebecca is the daughter of the local "preacher" for lack of a better term. She would sing songs all day long and always wanted to play, of course she's a bit too small for volleyball like most Fiji's she was always willing to spend most of the day doing a lot of nothing. Oh yeh, this is on the Island of Naviti in the Yasawa group, I stayed at a couple of resorts on this island the best being White Sandy beach... more later underwater photography is VERY difficult as one must first become at least pretty good at maintaining a stable position...

Itchy Feet

Oct 4, 2004 - Kuata / Card Games / Hippocrap

The second day in Kuata started with a slight hangover! But with all the fresh air and sea breezes it didn't take long before Helen and I were running around and eating the free breakfast! You have to understand that at these resorts breakfast is between 7am - 8am so if you want breakfast then you have to be awake pretty early! Helen and I hadn't missed one so far. After breakfast we got ready for the Kayaking that we had arranged as part of our package. We opted for a double kayak so that we could do it together! Although made of plastic...
