Jan 13, 2013 - Parte 7 - Welcome to Red Sea
Saimos de Luxor e fomos para Sharm el Sheik. Foram quase 19 horas de viagem, passamos pelo Canal de Suez, uma area um pouco tensa, com fiscalizacao militar e td, mas valeu a pena. Sharm eh a Las Vegas do Egito.

Apr 26, 2012 - Dehab, Egypt
We had a bit of a problem getting to Sharm El Sheik, the ferry across the Red Sea was suspended, the planes from Luxor to Sharm flew back to Cairo 1st and were expensive. We hired a car& driver to take us to Hurghada then flew to Sharm. Stayed 1 night in Sharm it’s a very upscale and not our style. Sharen & Keith played in the Red Sea and they even persuaded Bernie to dip her feet in the water. It was lovely !! The next day we quickly packed up and headed up the coast to Dahab where we found the Jasmine Inn right on the beach which only...

Nov 15, 2010 - Adventures Across Egypt
My adventure didn’t start well. My flight from San Francisco to Paris went swimmingly however in Paris I was delayed for 7.5 hours due to ‘technical difficulties’. I eventually made it to Cairo after nearly 48 hours of travelling to a hotel that looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in about 48 days. I was so tired didn’t care, I crashed out on the bed for a good 9 hours. The trip had been in the planning for about a year. I should point out to you now this was not a 5 star Sharm el Sheikh holiday, I booked one nights’ accommodation in Cairo...

Quick 7 day holiday to get away from the scottish weather. They are right - they Pyramid's are really just big triangle things in the middle of the desert. Funny thing is they are just on the outskirts of Cairo, do you can be driving through the streets then out of one corner of the window you see these massive pyramids..... quite cool. Hotel pool was Amazing.

Apr 4, 2010 - The Lost City Of Petra
Sunday 4th April Day 85 As we steamed up to the anchorage in the headwaters of the Gulf of Aqaba, four countries are visible: Egypt on the port beam, on the port bow Israel; on the starboard bow and beam, Jordan; and on the starboard quarter Saudi Arabia. What a history this area has. We arrived in Aqaba, having our breakfast on the balcony to a beautiful sunny morning. We had breakfast on the balcony as we had an early start, our tour to Petra would take ten hours. We were met by our very friendly guide, who gave us a lot of information....

Jan 19, 2010 - Swimming in the Red Sea
Today was a day of snorkelling - the Aussies and some Brits took over the far end of the beach - strangely where the food and grog were located - much to the disgust of our fellow Russian guests. Note to the Russians - if you dont say Please Thank You and Smile - you don't get A class treatment. The Egyptians LOVED the Aussies as we treated them civilly and fairly! Anyway - went snorkelling - bought a disposable underwater camera hopefully it worked and went underwater snap happy. One of the other girls had a LUMIX and was able to...

Jan 18, 2010 - Stormy weather
Supposed to go to St Catherines Monastery at the base of Mount Sinai but trip was cancelled due to a one in 20 year storm that hit Jordan, Israel and Egypt. It started at about 9.30p.m. I was finally on the internet when I heard the rumblings of thunder - mind you being so close to the Gaza strip I had to look outside to make sure there were no missile fire heading our way. Happy that we weren't under attack I had gotten back onto the internet when there was an almighty thunder clap directly above. I literally fell off the chair. Sian was...

I could have slept another 5 hours but a local rooster -whose clock was set to the wrong time started to crow at about 2.30a.m. That was it for sleep - dragged myself out at 4 a.m.. Bags locked up and outside and having brekky at 5.30. On the bus at 6 enroute to the Luxor airport. Flight via Egyptair to Sharm el-Sheikh. Take off and landing were excellent! Short trip to the Royal Rehana Resort which appeared very impressive. Had to wait around til about 12 for keys to room. Rooms 4043 and 4044 were allocated to us, one with a King Size the...

Aug 31, 2009 - Sharm el-Sheikh - Aug 26-31
Glad to leave Luxor, despite it being MUCH better than Cairo, we headed for the Red Sea coast and Sharm. As the plane headed in early evening, the flashing lights of the resort and the "strip" certainly looked very Westernised and a nice break from the Egyptian hustle and bustle! We had five days in Sharm - 3 relaxing and 2 under the water. On our first day, we found a number of dive companies and eventually picked one to use - Camel Diving. The girl there was friendly and helpful which made us confident they were a good outfit to use. Our...

Nov 1, 2008 - Sharm el-Sheikh
Sharm el-Sheikh is only an hour down the coast from chilled Dahab, but a world away from its prices. Being the most famous resort city in Egypt and in all of Africa really, we couldn’t really fulfill our wishes of just getting a cheap hostel for one day to see the city. A tricky taxi-man tried to rip us off, leaving from the bus station and taking us to his “friends” place for a cheap night stay; we suspected trickery, got out of the car, and refused to pay his 200% inflated price. We’ve learned EVERY price here is negotiable and can go...

Apr 24, 2008 - Sharm el Sheikh
Went to Sharks Bay again today, I had to have a go on the camel which was fun but a bit itchy on the legs, the man was making me hit it with a stick but I made sure I didnt hit hard and didnt do it when the man turned away! Did some snorkelling but came across loads of jelly fish so had to get out very quickly. Later went in further along but got surrounded by the damn things so panicked and swam as quickly as possible to the jetty, they don't hurt you but they feel weird and I don't like it. In the evening we went to the italian 'Mamma...
