Cairo and the Pyramids November 18, 2008 We were up very early and in the buses by 6:30 and then we sat there until 8:00! We had to form our convoy and it consisted of about 70 buses. Port Said is the entrance to the Suez Canal. ... Sorry it took us an eternity to get back to our page. We pulled into Port Said, approximately a 3 hour bus ride to Cairo. ... We arrived in Port Said, just after 10pm and got to our hotel, to our surprise, our mid range 3star hotel, was absolutely not what we had expected. ... It the morning we headed out to see the sights of Port Said and the "busy port" at the opening of the Sues canal, only to find out that it wasn't all that busy and we only saw one cargo ship go by in the hr we watched the area. ... NOthing to do in Port Said, so we are off to cairo for the next two days to cool our heels until tuesday when we fly home. ...

Port Said, the Suez to Ismailia 26 May 2007 Sailed over night from Ashkalom, Israel to Port Said, Egypt. ... That would have been good as the "Yacht Club" at Port Said leaves a little to be desired! See photo. ... We had to spend the night at the Port Said Yacht Club. ...

Hello all, Well, did the title whet your appetite for a good read? The Croatian Cruise - January 2006 An early morning flight from Edinburgh, via Frankfurt, found us at Split airport on a chilly January afternoon - but at least it was not raining - yet. Crete has some high mountains with snow on them!! Both weather forecasts we receive give good conditions for the 400 mile passage to Port Said - Southwesterly wind of force 4 and clear skies. ... However, as always it passes and we manage to get back on a more or less direct course for Port Said. ... And on Sat 21st - the sun shines and we have to motor along in shorts and teeshirt weather - indeed some brave souls go topless!! (that does not include Carolyn!!) But as the sun goes down it gets really chilly again and it's back to full weather gear for the long motor along the coast to the breakwater at the entrance to the canal.Hello all, Well, did the title whet your appetite for a good read? At this point we were ready not to see tourists for a while. A change of bus at Suez and we were now going along the canal towards Port Said at the Mediterranean end of it. ... We get to Port Said and with Michelle's now razor sharp bargaining skills get a well priced ride to a hotel. ... This hotel is so far our best find, for $6 a big room with a fan, a fridge, a TV (albeit only snow instead of channels) and our own bathroom.At this point we were ready not to see tourists for a while.
