8 February 2009 TEMPLE OF PHILAE, SAIL TO KOM OMBO, GALABEYA PARTY Today we transfer from one boat to another to visit the Temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis, which is perched majestically on an island. The ship set sail today at 5:20AM – it was supposed to sail at 5:30AM so it was 5:30ish…so as expected Wendy was up as soon as she heard the engines start. At approximately 12:15PM everyone, including the pilot and crew were ready to sail to Kom Ombo, our next “discovery”… or so we thought. ... We could see the Kom Ombo temple on the hill overlooking the Nile and walked approximately 5 minutes with Amin, up many stairs where we received our tickets and proceeded inside. ... Aswan, the embarkation point for our upcoming Nile cruise, is Egypt's southern most city - a charming, quaint town with a magnificent setting on the banks of the Nile, dotted with small river islands and densely lined with date palms and agricultural plots - life really does have the feeling of 'drifting by' with the warmth of the Egyptian sun and the steady flow of the river.Aswan, the embarkation point for our upcoming Nile cruise, is Egypt's southern most city - a charming, quaint town with a magnificent setting on the banks of the Nile, dotted with small river islands and densely lined with date palms and agricultural plots - life really does have the feeling of 'drifting by' with the warmth of the Egyptian sun and the steady flow of the river....
