The Egyptian desert After my warp-speed visit throught Cairo, Aswaan and Luxor, I decided to spend the last few days relaxing in the desert, away from the tourists, tourists touts, the constant hassling by young men (ok, not all, but enough to drive a woman insane) and the noise and pollution of the bigger cities. Visiting the Dakhla Oasis and four very different parts of the Egyptian desert, located 400k west fo Cairo. ... The White Desert had very interesting rock formations, the New White Desert had patched of totally white flat rocks, The Black Desert was very interesting with its volcanos, craters and black sand and finally the sand dunes, just as one might find in the Sahara desert.
