May 12, 2006 - Heading north in a hurry
To start this one off, I will again copy from an email I wrote while in Lima the day these bus rides started: "Now a quick update. When I initially left Ecuador in Novermber it was on this exact route, using Transportes Loja to go from Loja in Ecuador, crossing the border at Macara, then contuin on to Piura in Peru. ... Apparently when I left that day the computer system was down on the Ecuadorian side in Macara, so they had no record of me ever leaving the country. ... Jan 25, 2005 - The Border Crossing
After a couple of hours of sleep, Becca and I took the 45 minute trip back to Loja. She dropped me off at the bus station and she went on to the airport where she would fly to Guayaquil and bus it to the coast from there-it sucked saying goodbye! Other than the fact that my bus was late and it stopped for long periods of time in random cities on our way to Macara, the border crossing ...
