May 12, 2006 - Heading north in a hurry

To start this one off, I will again copy from an email I wrote while in Lima the day these bus rides started: "Now a quick update. After 26 hours I got to Lima today at about 10am. At 7pm tonight I have 14 hours to Piura in the north (where i was in November), and about 1 hour after arriving there I have that same original first bus ride of my trip, 8 hours back into Ecuador to Loja. Crazy no? But I'd rather rush through Peru and get back to Ecuador to do more there. From Loja I either go south 1.5 hours to a town called Vilcabamba which is...

Jan 25, 2005 - The Border Crossing

After a couple of hours of sleep, Becca and I took the 45 minute trip back to Loja. She dropped me off at the bus station and she went on to the airport where she would fly to Guayaquil and bus it to the coast from there-it sucked saying goodbye! Other than the fact that my bus was late and it stopped for long periods of time in random cities on our way to Macara, the border crossing was a breeze! All I had to do was stroll across a bridge and get stamped by immigration officials, it was awesome-it only took about five minutes!
