Next en route was Guayaquil, Ecuador, and after weighing up all the options, I took the most expensive bus (US$20) to travel the 8-hour journey across the border. ... Kevin: We rolled into Guayaquil around 1pm and checked into our hotel. ... Lunch was Taco Bell for me and Tony Roma's for Ellen, then dinner at TGI Friday's, plus just walking around in a MALL, for goodness sake! Aside from the obvious, the downside of coming to Guayaquil is that it is back on the coast and therefore HOT, and we had gotten quite used to the mild (and even cold) weather up in the highlands. ...
