I had long secured a flight in and out of Guayaquil for the occasion, much relieved since the roads to the coast from Quito continued to be blocked by mudslides. ... Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador and situated at the junction of 2 huge rivers flowing from the mountains down to the coast. ... Arriving in Guayaquil to stay with Ivette's family was something we had looked forward to for months and we hoped our Spanish had improved enough to be able to converse with her parents Antonio & Lilyan. ... Tome un avion a Esmeraldas y luego un bus a Guayaquil. ... Fue un largo dia! Guayaquil no tiene mucho que ver, aparte del Malecon 2000 y el Cerro Santa Ana que es bastante pintoresco. ... Aparte esta el Mall del Sol, que es mas o menos el doble que el Jockey Plaza en una ciudad de solo 2 millones! Y ademas tiene Cinnabon! La gente es simpatica, aun cuando les dices que eres de Peru!
