Hola! Well, I must apologize for those 2 weeks without news, but I got very busy travelling with Pierrette in places where there was no WiFi. Our first destination on March 1, the very morning after her arrival, was Cotopaxi National Park, home to the volcano of the same name. We had two nights reserved at Hacienda Los Mortinos and they sent a private 4x4 to pick us up at our hotel in Quito and take us to the hacienda. Jun 19, 2009 - Cotopaxi Volcano, Hacienda Cienega

Just beyond tiny Lasso the bus drops us of along the road where a portal over a side road says: "Hosteria La Ciénega". Since, according to their website, it is only one kilometre to the hacienda and mainly since there is no taxi in sight, we start walking rolling our luggage along. As I had suspected it is a bit more than one kilometre and I am happy to sit in the back of the pick up truck, that kindly offers to bring us to the hacienda, while Olive sits comfortably in the cab talking away in her newly acquired Spanish. May 23, 2007 - Cotopaxi

Photos from the recent mountaineering skills trip to Volcan Cotopaxi - Ecuador I met an American girl the afternoon we arrived at the Refugio, she told me how she had been planing this climb for the past year, training for six months, waiting six days for the weather to clear and tonight was her night. They were leaving for their climb at midnight. We sipped coco tea and chatted, I wished her luck.
