"Playa" is Spanish for beach! Last weekend it was a national holiday so I didn’t have class on Friday! I went with my host family to their friend’s condo right on the beach. My host mom and her friend were going to buy some fresh seafood for lunch so they gave me a ride to a Atacames, a town down the beach where a lot of my friends were staying for the weekend. ... On Sunday morning my host mom helped me get a taxi to go to Atacames to visit with my friends for the morning. ... Jan 15, 2009 - Beach BABY! Atacames

So being the mama-bear/control freak that I am, I took up the task of making hotel reservations and organizing out trip to Atacames- the group of 6! I made reservations for a mini-apartment for 6 people at the Hotel Cielo Azul with sea-front balcony and pool etc. ... Aerotaxi promised me departures to Atacames every 2 hours. ... So i get to the ticket booth and they say they arent going to Atacames, only so far as sketchy Esmeraldas, from where we can catch a sketchy taxi. ... But a bit of talking and revealing that were 6 people and they agreed to take us on to Atacames. ... So she told me to go to Occidentales bus company to get to Atacames. ...
