Oct 7, 2014 - Touring Germany

October 7: We are nearing the end of our 4-week trip. Today we took a leisurely scenic drive in the area where my cousin lives, southwest of Munich. Trees are just beginning to change colors here. We drove to some scenic mountain lakes and walked around in a few small towns. The artwork on buildings is absolutely gorgeous. It was a sunny, warm day which we have not experienced for a while. In the evening, we had happy hour in my cousin's apartment and then he did some grilling for our dinner. Following that, we watched a DVD about...

Oct 6, 2014 - Leaving CZ Republic

On Sunday, October 5, we checked out of the Penzion in Zdar nad Sazavou & drove to our relatives's house for breakfast with Jindra, Radka & her daughters, Viktoria & Esther. After that we all headed to Havlickova Borova where the 94-year-old grandmother lives and where the family has another house with a very large garden. Jim & I had seen this house almost 10 years ago, and the work Bohumil has done to update it is very impressive. We were surprised at how alert Grandma was. She talked & talked but may have repeated herself several times....

Sep 23, 2012 - Millie's Blog

Today I got a pet wasp and it was a wild one but for some reason it followed me every where I went:( Yesterday I went on a spooky castle tour of PragueCastle after dark.  It was very cold and the buildings were very old.  The tour guide asked us some questions about the buildings and I got them right.  I was also the youngest ever to go on this tour!  The streets here are all made from Cobblestones and not concrete.  I suppose you are all on holidays now too. We have also been on a boat cruise today.  It was fun.  Going up the river through...

Sep 23, 2012 - Stanley's Blog

Today, we started comfortably in bed with our iPods minus mum who was reading and dad who slept until 9:30. The church bells started ringing at this time so we (Millie and  i) went and prepared breakfast. After breakfast we walked down to the jetty where Millie climbed halfway up a four and a half metre wall! I believe it was an amazing feat. We then went on a Prague river cruise complete with a buffet and accordion. We passed through a lock and it was really fun as we rose because you slowly saw more and more.Which meant you really got to...

Sep 23, 2012 - Spooky Tour Of Prague Castle

Well Prague castle was not at all what I was expecting.  It is better to describe Prague Castle as a series of nobility buildings surrounding a gothic church, that took 500 years to complete.  I think it's fair to say Scott is a bit sick of being surrounded by religion and unverified stories about love, gods and political figures.  I on the other hand can cope with those because it personifies the architecture and I am really enjoying looking at it.  I think Prague should offer architecture tourism with some academic content.   It has kind...

Sep 22, 2012 - Prague

I think it's fair to say that Prague is Millie's favourite place so far. Girls went shopping on the Karlyv Most bridge and enjoyed shopping for paintings and bespoke jewellery, whilst the boys went to a Nuclear Bunker. Scott and Stan got to hold an AK47 and learnt that there are enough nuclear bunkers for all of Prague, under the streets. This is interesting to me because the local bloke on the train was telling us how Prague is flood prone. I guess you'd be dead unlucky if it flooded at the same time as nuclear war! It is more expensive in...

Jul 10, 2012 - Dag 13

Ingen...

Jun 26, 2011 - Scary Stories

Too many places in tbe past few days have had adequate internet. We just left prague this morning for cesky krumlov. The last 3 days in prague were excellent and relaxing. It is a beautiful city! I would say and eric would agree that it is probably a city to come back too. Now we know why so many movies have been filmed here. When we arrived we headed towards our hotel or rather or lovel little b&b called the atelier, however, after no answer at the door, a frustrating excursion to find a phone to borrow (we cant read chech on the pay phone...

Aug 26, 2010 - Ana Kalausova' s footsteps in Praha

I have just adopted a Czech name to make myself at home in this exquisite country. If you have asked me how I picked a name, my answer would be I picked something that sounded very Czech and good to my ears, and also I can apply declensions to my new name ;-) Well, mmm it doesn't make any senses when I don't use and understand Czech haha... For now, leave it. I like it anyway. Period! So, who am I? I am Ana Kalausova...now. I am a long-term tourist who is avoiding the crowded tourist places like old town and mala strana although no doubt...

Aug 25, 2009 - 25th Praha...hahahahah

So, we got to our campsite in the countryside about hour by public transport to the centre of Prague. Fabulous campsite, probably the best yet. Just had a fantastic meal at the restaurant...mmmmm! Prague was ok...I guess we may be citied out at the moment but it didn't really do much for us - full of tourist groups similar to Venice. Granted, there were some gorgeous buildings and I can imagine if you came here shopping it'd be great but apart from that we've been there, got the car sticker!! For the first time ever, Myrtle reached 75 miles...
