Despite disapproving looks from the reluctantly very helpful ladies in the C. Krumlov tourist office we opted for a bus with the locals to Ceske Budejovice, home of the first Czech brewery built in 1895 and the famous Budweiser / Budvar beer.We think they would have preffered us to continue our fruitless hunt for the local one. Budweis itself gets more picturesque the deeper you go, the clunky porticos reminded us more of Italy than central Europe. Jun 26, 2005 - Cesky Krumlov
Sorry for the delay. Cesky Krumlov is a small small czech town, and the Internet cafes close early. We spent three nights in this very charming town. The town is just like our guidebook says, "a medieval playground". The long trip to get here, was not so charming. As we mentioned, we took a night train out of Krakow. The experience wasn't nearly as bad as we had imagined, but not something we would care to repeat. We were lucky as our cabin was only shared with two others instead of four.
