Slept until 7am, must have been sleepy!! Following breakfast we take the car and explore the road to Baconao. Not much to see and it ends about 5km from here. Oh well, it was nice to get out. This morning I have the suspicion that although my phone is on airplane mode and wi-fi is off, I am likely being charged data on my phone when using our beloved Maps app. Arrrgggghhh I got an internet card to use the hotels computer and contact Rogers. Sure enough, it is highly unlikely my phone has a built in GPS, so it will revert to data. Dang,...

Awake early at 5:30am. Not sure why as we can't hear the roosters here, maybe the early night. Around 7:30am or so we head to the restaurant for breakfast. We sit outside as the air is fresh & cool. We notice a security fellow at the door not allowing people to take in their beach and carry bags. The reason for this is so that people don't take extra food off the buffet and take it away with them. Nov 7, 2005 - Guantanamo - Camp X ray radio!

After another arduous day negotiating the Cuban road system with Ronald, we decided to set up camp in Guantanamo. The Cuban town of Guantanamo is quite distant from the actual Bay the USA lays claim to, the Cuban tourist organisations do run day-trips to a faraway lookout for interested snipers/spy agencies. Guantanamo itself is fairly charmless, but the US Army radio coming loud and clear over Ronald's airwaves was fairly amusing.
