A & M: Didn’t wake up until 10. I think I might be relieved of driving duties for a long time to come!!! Stopped briefly in the National Park for lunch which was stunning – the scenery not the tuna sandwiches, although they were mighty fine also!! Made our last coastal overnight stop at a campsite nestled in the rocks somewhere between Karlobag and Senj. ... Very close to the beach again and had a very welcome swim in the Adriatic as soon as we got here! Nice and small campsite, lovely restaurant and bar where we tried the local schnapps (more like clear whiskey!), cheap as chips as well – we’ll make a note of this one! M: From here we now turn East and inland, we will not set eyes on the sea again until we return and cross the English Channel.A & M: Didn’t wake up until 10. May 13, 2009 - Starting south
Sunday 10th May. After two hours driving south along a pretty deserted coastline where the mountains rise out of the sea and the road follows every twist and turn, rising at times hundreds of feet to climb over ravines or sheer cliff faces we saw a building offering apartments at a place called Kalic just south of Senj. ... Climbing the 1:3 drive to the car park, the owner showed us a reasonable apartment with double bedroom , bathroom, kitchen and terrace asking the princely sum of 20 euros for the one night.Sunday 10th May.
