May 22, 2017 - Zadar and Pag Island

May 22, 2017 Zadar - Pag Island Breakfast is self serve and it is good. The weather is beautiful - again! Our group left at 9:30 am. We walked to our mini bus which was parked just outside the old city wall. Today we are visiting the island of Pag - it is an hour and a half drive. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge. We were surprised to see how barren the area is. Ivan explained that at the time when the Venetians ruled this area, they plundered the trees to take home for their building projects back in Venice. We arrived...

Jun 8, 2010 - Pag Island

Drove down from Rovinj today and didn't know exactly where were going but decided to take a ferry to Pag Island. When we first saw it from the ferry it looked somewhat like the moon, no tree, houses, or anything else. Well when we got off the ferry we just followed the crowed and ended up in a small village. We decided to keep driving to see where it would take us and as luck would have it we ended up at this great hotel. We are going to stay here for at least a couple of days before moving on. Here are some photos.

May 20, 2007 - Driving the peninsula to Pag & beyond

May 20, Sunday We got such a late start today that we decided against going to Plitvice National Park, which is about 2 hours away. Instead, we drove west and north, up a very long, narrow peninsula to Pag and Novalja. Then we took the 15 minute ferry ride back to the mainland and drove south along the coast, back to home base at Murvica. A few minutes west of Murvica is the small town of Nin. This must have been a Greek and Roman town in antiquity, because the map shows a Greek ruin called Aenona. There is a museum (closed at present) with...
