Jun 8, 2009 - Hvar to Opatija
Will update tomorrow..... Day 70 Hvar to Opatija A rather forgetful day to say the least.... 3 could have been pretty major events... Ross left our camera along the waterfront in Hvar, we realised it was missing luckily before we left town..and found that, someone handed it in. Then later I left my wallet on the ferry, and luckily realised when we went to leave, ran back on and was still there...the third thing did get left behind but was not so precious was Jess's bracelet ties she'd had since Thailand... But we woke up to a beautiful view...

Jun 23, 2006 - Goodbye Croatia
12km from the port we arrived at a campground in another fantastic vacationers town, Moscenicka Draga. Here folks were very organized for the beach with carts filled with air matressess, chairs and beach toys. While Dads in speedos played with their kids in the water and the teenagers suntanned, Moms and Grandmas drank their coffees and ate icecream at the cafe tables lining the beach. This was to be our last day on the Adriatic so it was difficult to leave the water for cycling in 34 degree heat. We could have loved to stay for another...

Jul 22, 2005 - Opatija
Our final stop of the Croatian tour of the Adriatic Sea was a town called Opatija just a couple of hours from the Italian border by car. Unlike our place in Rogoznica, this time we ended up staying in a room with a shared bathroom and no use of the kitchen, but the couple we stayed with was nice except that the father seemed to have no shirts to wear so just wandered around shirtless all day, everyday. Not having the kitchen was a bit of a blow since Croatia is somewhat pricey, but luckily for us, the proximity to Italy made for good pizza...

Jun 28, 2005 - Day 25 - Dubrovnik/Rejeka (via Korcula and Hvar islands and the town of Split
We were up and away earlier for our ferry. After us almost missing the boat yesterday, I was very nervous about it, and woke up every 10 minutes during the night to make sure we were still OK. As a result I was very sandy eyed for the bus trip down to the boat. A bit of mucking about found us the right boat, and a bit more mucking about found us our room key. Once that was sorted, and we had done a quick lap around the boat, it was time for a sleep for a couple of hours or so. With lunch over, there was just time for a couple of more hours...

May 31, 2005 - Hey buddy, can you spare a kuna?
Last Sunday was one of those days. After a fun filled Saturday night with Davour from the internet cafe, a bunch of exchange students from Madison and the flirtatiously dorky-hot Anna from Zagreb, I found my way back to my studio on the hill as the sun was back up for the day. Then rousted from bed by the early returning owners, I got it together and headed over to catch my 12:45 bus, which I was a full half hour early for. The problem came when I realized that it was actually a 12:10 bus, so I killed four hours until the next one, where I...

Mar 21, 2005 - Hvar to Rijeka
Our first stop up the Dalmatian Coast from Dubrovnik was the town of Hvar on the island of Hvar. We stayed in an apartmnt of a local family on the hillside overlooking the quaint port town. Our hostess went to great lengths explaining how to get back to her house from the town. She seemed quite worried that we wouldn't be able to find our way home. We weren't at all concerned - one look up the hillside from the town and you could spot the house no problem. There sat a brilliant tangerine orange structure among a sea of traditional white...
