Oct 1, 2010 - And.....relax

We have found a lovely little campsite in Drage, just south of Zadar. It's right beside the sea in a little cove, fairly quiet, and it's very sunny. The sea is warm enough for swimming (finally - I get to swim in the SEA!) and we're going to stay for a few days. Nothing is happening, and that's the way we like it. ****Do not disturb****

May 18, 2009 - Birds and bikers

Wednesday 13th May. Had the sort of day most people have during a holiday i.e. read books, went for walks and ate well. Also caught up on blog! Set off south again and at times had some wonderful vistas but the view was generally shrubs to left and right no higher than ten feet growing from the exposed rock and all the same colour. These grew between the steep slope to...

May 13, 2009 - Peace and war

Tuesday 12th May. Lazy day! Visited the local bird reserve and saw several species for the first time then explored the local countryside and came across a village which was on the front line during the war. Dozens of houses were just totally destroyed by gunfire and have just been left with all the inhabitants killed. We were told latter that there are still land mines in that area so don’t walk around. Back to Drage and a walk around the bay with about twenty or thirty tiny harbours each housing one fishing boat! Drove to Sibenik the...
