Well, I turned 60 today! Had a quiet morning sipping coffee in our open air lobby identifying birds that flew in feeding on bananas that the owners placed on a platform. Saw Cherrie's Tanager, clay-coloured Robin (their national bird), wedge-billed wood creeper, Blue-Gray Tanager, flycatcher, Rufous-tailed humming bird and a smooth billed Ani. We ate breakfast at a small local open aired restaurant next to the ocean. We ate their national dish , gallo (beans and rice) with an omelet stuffed with avocados, cheese and tomato while watching...

May 31, 2011 - Manzanillo

We have spent the last couple of days on the Costa Rican Carribean Coast called Manzanillo. A nice simple end to our Central American tour. Its a nice quite town with not very much here. We tried snorkeling but the seas made it hard to see anything and lack of sun didnt help. But on a much clearer calmer day we can easily imagine what we missed. With not wanting to fork out hundreds on a turtle tour, w e settled for a much simnpler caves tour, which was short and sweet. The water is this places main attraction though, in Belize the water...

Jun 13, 2008 - "One Love"- Bob Marley Caribe Sur Vaca

After a couple of weeks doing research in the forest it was finally time to get to do some traveling and relaxing. A few of us caught a bus on the side of the road heading for Panama and we were off... After 2 bus connections through very shady cities and 6 hours of pot holes that could have devoured the entire bus whole we arrived at the most beautiful/ remote beach, very close to the border of Panama... The gorgeous coastal rain forest stopping only at the edge of hot white sand and beyond that brilliant blue Caribbean sea. Coconut palm...
