11/11 in Brazza Gotta go try to get on the damn plane ... Grrrrr - should be a bus! Haha! From Bonnie's Journal: We had to fly, which is what almost everyone does. We debated, and decided to try it - at least we would have seen Point Noir. On Trans Air Congo it is 35,000 cfa one way ($73). We arrived in PN about 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 12, and went to Sueco. The LP says it is by far the best budget accommodation in PN. It is in the old Swedish Mission. The Swedes turned it over to a local church years ago, but it is still an excellent place to...

11/9 in Leconi From Bonnie's Journal: We were stamped out, we couldn't stay in Leconi that night, yet the man and woman at the bar said there were no other cars going that day. We would have to spend the night and try again tomorrow. The only thing we could do was go back to the Immigration post and ask the immigration officer to help us get a ride. The man took us to immigration for 500 cfa - a bargain! The immigration Chief was very nice. He spoke a bit of English. We explained what had happened and he said "no problem, you can go on the...

In the Congo according to the article, the major problem in the Congo is the military conflict. The war in Congo has killed approximately 5.4 million lives of April 2007. According to NationMaster there is major child trafficking throughout the nation. Girls being sold into sex slavery and kids being sold for labor purposes. This just goes to...

Sep 20, 2013 - I play the Congas
The interesting thing about the article I read about Congo is that it was almost completely focused on "blood Cell Phones" or in other words, the materials that are in a cell phone came from a conflicted country. Several things stuck out to me regarding this issue. The solution that many have come up with is; if we don't buy the minerals that are coming from this corrupted country, then the country will be better off, and we will not be apart of the issue. This is completely illogical on many levels. One, boycotting a country's good does...

Point Noire,The Congo is the current location.Totally not what you'd expect the Congo to be but a welcome relief for us all after the 9 day journey through the rainforest of equatorial central Africa. Point Noire is one of those places that we have stumbled across on a few occasions in Africa ie. another expat city with all the facilities to cater to the large expat community. Again oil and logging being the major industries here which bring the whiteys to town.... From Libreville we spent 9 long days travelling through southern Gabon to...
