Getting to Tierradentro proved easy in comparison to Popayan, and I even had a seat. ... The bus didn't quite go to the village of Tierradentro (aka San Andres) so I had to walk the last 4 kilometers, uphill with all my stuff, a sweaty affair. ... About the only problem I had in Tierradentro was getting stuck by pricker bushes while picking blackberries during the hikes. ...

After a whole night of indecision debating whether to go completely solo to Tierradentro as no one else felt like going I decide to give it a shot. ... Therefore I find myself travelling on three different long distance taxis without meeting another traveller and arrive in this very small one street town of Tierradentro where I book into a hotel and find out I'm the only guest. ... The reason for coming to this remote site is that Tierradentro is famous for being the tomb capitol of Colombia. ... The local cockfights Next we got invited by the locals we met to the main party of the town better yet the whole region, the Cockfights had moved to Tierradentro tonight and everybody who was everybody was going. ... Yet another beautiful colonial town that was on the must see list. Anyhow as it was still in the direction of Bogotá so we head to Villa De Leyva to check it out and true it's got typical colonial style cobbled streets, great looking buildings and a huge main square over looked my a big church but to be honest for me there wasn't much more. ... Was funny actually what someone commented to me 'isn't it odd that all the beautiful colonial towns that you come across in Latin America are all due to the Spanish Conquista's first coming and raising all the original settlements to ground before rebuilding it?' Good point I thought.Yet another beautiful colonial town that was on the must see list.
