Once there it was easier than I could have hoped as I completed the form to the babe of visa officers, paid my money (just over a tenner) and was told to come back at 1pm :-) Happy and legal once again I headed for Turpan by bus thru a great mix of scenery from flat desert with snow capped mountains not too far away, then black jagged rocks finally changing to red sandstone rocks and back to flat desert before getting into Turpan and taking residence in the bus station hotel . ...
