Teary eyed good byes to all the girls from the resort who got up at 5:30 to see us off.(everyone rides around on little cars, not just lazy folk!) Then tranferred at flew to Chengdu, but the flight was delayed so we missed our train to Chongquing. ... Had to overnight in Chengdu unexpectedly. ... Then we snail mailed to Chongquing! Sufferun' Succkatash! It was an extremely bitter morning in Xi'an, we arrived in Chengdu feeling tired but were welcomed by a slightly warmer climate. ... Lhasa - Chengdu We were not sure what to expect on the train or know what it's like to be on public transport for that length of time, but as it turns out it was great fun. ... Both of which served really good chinese food served by staff so grumpy it made us feel like we were back at home on BR! One very un British thing about the train was after just over 48 hrs we were only 7 mins late into Chengdu - pretty good going. ...
