Checking out and saying our goodbyes we went to get the bus for Chengdu but when we went to get on they kept saying 2 o'clock 2 o'clock (it was morning at this point) So back to Teddy Bear for a while, 2 o'clock rolls on and they say no to our tickets, they are for 12 o'clock. ... 28th and 29th These days in Chengdu are pretty uneventful. ... Made In China?

May 6, 2008 - World's largest Buddha. Emei - Leshan - Chengdu

Had a leisurely start and caught a bus dor 1 hour to Leshan to see what is now the world's biggest Buddha (since the Taliban blew up the Bamiyan buddhas in Afghanistan a few years back). Decided against travelling all the way to Chongqing today and instead went back to Chengdu where I'd found a good hotel (Sam's Guesthouse) while walking around last time - about $16 (7 quid) for a clean room with bathroom in a wonderful old Chinese mansion. ... Dinner cost 65 cents tonight! It was a bowl of rice noodles with beef bits and greens, drenched with 1/4 inch of chili oil. Lunch included super-spiced black chicken, greens and soup at a tulip festival at an ecopark in the countryside near Chengdu. ... The tulips were largely finished, but an astonishing number of people were tromping around for wedding pictures with entourages of make-up artists, photographers and suitcases full of clothes and shoes.Dinner cost 65 cents tonight! We arrived in Chengdu late in the evening and a driver picked us up from the airport and took us to our hotel. ... At one shop she even insisted on buying our groceries! I think at the end of the day she was exhausted! Sunday 9th Today we took a taxi to the Panda Research facility, which is about 6km outside of Chengdu. ... If you need a travel guide while visiting Chengdu, we'd certainly recommend him. ...

This was our second time back in Chengdu and it was nice to be back. ... to see the Pandas AGAIN! While in Chengdu we visited the Wenshu Monastery, which is Chengdu's oldest. ... Of course, whenever you come to Chengdu, you HAVE TO visit the Pandas. ... We arrived early in the morning to the Panda Research and Breeding Center at the outskirts of Chengdu, as this is feeding time and the Pandas are most active at this time. ...
