Our friend also likes to bike so we decided that for the next few days, we'll tour Shanghai together on bikes. ... Near the Pearl tower however the human and car traffic becomes very congested and dangerous as there are construction everywhere for the Shanghai Expo next year and we have to bike among big buses. ... It was a very cheap way to get a river cruise view of the famous Pearl Tower, the tallest skyscraper in China (Shanghai Trade Center), and the old European architectures of the Bund, a reminiscent of it's past glory. ... I was in Shanghai for 12 hours. ... The reason i decided to skip Shanghai, although some may say "why not just give it one full day?" is that the only comments i'd heard about it were that its even more of a giant construction site than usual and that, really, there isn't that much of interest there unless you want to buy some rip-off designer gear. ... I didn't really like Shanghai as soon as i got there, there were many many more touts/taxi drivers than in previous cities hanging around unofficial taxi ranks trying to rip of tourists - Chinese and Western alike. ...
