May 18, 2006 - Flight to Xian

We left this morning for our flight to Xian. In our group are seven couples and three adult children. Jan & Neila Horejsi and their son Mark(23) are part of the group. When we arrived at the Xian airport, Mark started having chest pains and breathing difficulties. Medical assistance was called and Mark was taken to the hospital. It turns out that Mark has myocarditis which is an infection of the heart muscle and an intestinal infection. He is in intensive care here. We were met at the station by a tout for a Lonely Planet recommended budget hotel just 5 minutes walk away .... the guy wasn't too pushy and it was somewhere we had contemplated as we hadn't booked anything .... so we went with him. It is a budget hotel .... and we are paying almost half price of what we've had to pay in Shanghai and Beijing ... should help the "monies" a bit. Along with it thou ... they have a travel agent / business centre connected to the hotel .... and Mr Jim Beam, First Manager, was as smooth as and we have entrusted...
