May 4, 2006 - Hua Shan

After quite an easy time crossing the border we got a minibus to Hua Shan, about 2 hours, a very small village in the middle of nowhere surrounded by limestone carsts - beautiful. We stayed in a traditional Chinese guesthouse - all wooden and covered in those red lanterns and flags! Our room had a squat toilet, but apart from that it was very nice and clean! We dumped our bags and walked a few minutes down to the river where we had a 2 hour return trip up the river to go and see ancient cliff paintings, done around 2400 years ago. They used...
