Had a great flight on Bangkok Airways from Bangkok to Guilin, Guangxi Province. ... After lunch we returned to the hotel and arranged for a large minivan to take us to Yangshou, one and a half hours south of Guilin. ... We were delighted to find that the rain had stopped and the clouds lifted a little to give us a better view of the landscape as we travelled.Had a great flight on Bangkok Airways from Bangkok to Guilin, Guangxi Province. ... By Eric We flew into Guilin, China from Bangkok and spent the night in a smoke filled, but decent hotel in downtown Guilin. ... Unfortunately, we didn't have time to look around at the karst scenery which is so famous in Guilin other than looking at it out our bedroom window. ... Guilin seems like another nice town. ... The first visit to a place with less than one million people so far! Aug 11, 2007 - Guilin and a trip to the Dragons Backbone Rice Terraces near Longshan

Its taken a day and a half of trying, but I've finally managed to arrange accomodation in Guilin. ... Thankfully Guilin is only an hour and a half's bus journey away from Yangshuo, and buses are frequent, so at least the transport proves to be straight forward. ... I wasn't too impressed with Guilin; the guides talk about a beautiful city but its just another big chinese city with a few limestone peaks in it, which serves as a useful jumping off point for Yangshuo and Longsheng. ...

Jun 12, 2007 - Rainy season looks like it may be beginning. Heading to Northern China...

My trip back to Guilin from Longsheng was rather uneventful except for the girl with the chicken in the bag sitting next to me! I was thinking that this was some kind of Borat movie until I remembered that I AM IN CHINA! And this is more the norm than the exception. ...
