Oct 19, 2006 - Enter China and Afternoon Tea
A very early start compared to what we have been doing, and over to Kowloon to the main railway station again. An on time arrival at Guangzhou, and we were met my Chinese officials, prior to taking our trip we had already obtained a Visa to enter China, passport stamped and we then allowed to enter the Peoples Republic of China. ... Our train back was a Chinese train and was again in 1st class, but a different type of train, there is a train every hour between Kowloon and Guangzhou, but they have a problem with luggage, (just like being on a Voyager) all the suitcases were stacked up against some of the exit doors, even gangway connections were used, I was glad when we arrived, it was less than ideal, and I had to keep my safety hat firmly hidden away! The at seat service on the way back was just water. ... We made a hasty run to the exit to get through immigration, and yet another Hong Kong passport stamp! Once through on to the concourse it felt normal again after the poor people of China, and a short walk through the city bought us to the Peninsular Hotel.A very early start compared to what we have been doing, and over to Kowloon to the main railway station again.
