Oct 31, 2004 - Lanzhou and Xiahe

Caught a good overnight train from Xi'an to Lanzhou and arrived at about 7am on Thursday 28 October. Walked a couple of kms to a recommended hotel which was very comfotable and well-priced. Accomodation is quite a bit cheaper in the west of China than the big Eastern cities. I spent the day wandering around the town, seeing the Yellow River for the first time and relaxing in a park with temples overlooking the river.
