After an overnight stop in Huairou (which didn't seem to have a lot going for it) we arrived in Qingdongling on Saturday. The main attraction here is the Eastern Qing Tombs, which we visited in the afternoon. The Qing Tombs house 5 emperors, 14 empresses and 136 imperial consorts. They started building their tombs well before they died and spared no expense - Emperor Qianlong started building his tomb in the mid 1700's when he was 30 and by the time he reached 88 he had used up 90 tonnes of silver!
