Nov 8, 2009 - Torres del Paine National Park
After arriving in Puerto Natales we hired camping equipment, then the following day took the bus to Torres del Paine National Park were we completed the trek known as the "W" (because when you look at it on a map the route looks like a "W"!) We spent 5 days completing the trek which meant 4 nights camping in the national park, so on top of completing the 75km plus trek we also had to try and sleep in a freezing tent - and it snowed two of the four nights! Needless to say it was a challenge and we were glad to return to the warm hostel on the 5th day but it was totally worth it as the national park is stunning (as you will see from the photos). ...

Another long trip today, but nice opportunity to rest my knee and catch up on sleep after Torres del Paine. We arrived in Punta Arenas about 5pmish and wished we´d stayed in the hostel in Torres del Paine. ... We caught the bus from Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas a couple of days ago. ... The bus to Punta Arenas took about 3 hours and was pretty uneventful. ... Punta Arenas is a much larger town (population around 150,000 I believe) and is more a working town (the main industry is oil and petroleum) so not as touristy as other towns we have been to. ... It sailed us up the Straits of Magellan where we had great views of Punta Arenas and Tierra de Fuego hills. ...
