We were a bit sad to leave Salta and Argentina in general, but we were very excited to check out San Pedro de Atacama. ... We would have loved to hang out longer in San Pedro de Atacama since it was so artsy, relaxed, and friendly, but it was rather expensive and we were eager to get to Bolivia. ... The next day, we set off for our three day Jeep tour over the border into Bolivia and into the Uyuni Desert.We were a bit sad to leave Salta and Argentina in general, but we were very excited to check out San Pedro de Atacama. ... Arrived in Santiago after a 10 hour bus journey from Pucon - I had a snorer to my right and one behind so you can imagine how much sleep I had!! The next day the town looked a whole lot prettier so we strolled the waterfront after breakfast at the hotel. Again we found another bus within minutes to San Pedro de Atacama ($2. ... This was a very long travel day since we opted to go on to San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the desert 72 miles further and 90 minutes more on a bus. ... Again, a late arrival 11 PM arrival and no hotel rooms! No taxis, dark streets, heavy luggage, looked like a real adobe pueblo save for the bars, restaurants, hostels, live music, drumming, fire pits and young Chileños and Europeans.The next day the town looked a whole lot prettier so we strolled the waterfront after breakfast at the hotel.
