Nov 1, 2009 - Feeling a bit Chile
A move across the border today as we drove into Chile meaning yet another new bus! Although I have to say that this is a great way to see the scenery and definitely preferable to flying in my opinion.A move across the border today as we drove into Chile meaning yet another new bus! Oct 26, 2009 - Back to Chile again - Santiago
The journey from Mendoza to Santiago was stunning, so we thoroughly enjoyed it, until that is we got to the Argentina/Chile border. ... Unfortunately there was some sort of strike on at immigration which meant that there was about a 1km queue to get across which resulted in a 4 hour wait to get across!! We had a lovely time in Santiago exploring the city and it's parks - although for the first time during our trip we had some rain and it was cloudy the whole time we were there. ...

Oct 17, 2009 - San Pedro de Atacama
After our tour of Salar de Uyuni we crossed the Bolivian border into Chile and made our way to the desert town of San Pedro de Atacama. ... The town is completely tourist orientated (as tourism is pretty much its sole purpose) but it was all quite nice, although quite dusty, and we really enjoyed being there, apart from the cost! San Pedro de Atacama is an expensive town by most standards but after cheap Bolivia it was a bit of shock to adjust to the prices! Anyway, we still managed to have fun by going sand boarding on the dunes of Death Valley and then visited Valley of the Moon and watched the sun set. ... Sand boarding is similar to snow boarding, except you have to lean back so your board doesn’t get stuck in the sand, it’s much slower as the sand isn’t as slippy and unfortunately there are no lifts so you have to hike back up the dune each time! We also spent an afternoon on mountain bikes exploring the surrounding area – although the dirt tracks were a bit sandy and rocky for my liking! Oh, and the best thing about San Pedro de Atacama is it’s warm and ...

Sep 19, 2009 - Easter Island, Chile
It was rather interesting to visit one of the most remote islands in the world. It costs a fortune to come down here from the UK, but it was a free stop on my round the world ticket, so I could not miss it.It was rather interesting to visit one of the most remote islands in the world.
