Monday, June 19, 2006 Today we left Haines and drove to Haines Junction, British Columbia. One of our stops early on was Klukshu, a native summer fish camp, where we visited with a few folks and bought a burl bowl. We picked up the Alcan and drove into the Yukon as far as the Cottonwood Campground on Kluane Lake. Beautiful drive. . The lake is the largest in the Yukon, fed by glacier streams, varying in color from milky to deep blue. Quite a wind came up, temps in the 40's. The environment is surprisingly dry.
