This was to be our first true test at Boon Docking – camping without any hookups/electricity. To begin, we started out of White Horse as group 2 (this is the cooking crew). It was a short drive to the world’s largest cinnamon roll bakery. Really good rolls there and yes, they were huge. From there, we continued on up the Klondike Highway, through some areas that had forest fires back in 1995 and still recovering. North to Alaska

Jul 30, 2008 - Whitehorse day 3/Minto Resorts 2morrow

The free day 2day ended w/ a wonderful show in town called the Frantic Follies. It was 2 hrs of great fun, vaudevillian style, a terrific end to our stay here. Light rain is now falling which will settle the dust. We are leaving for Minto,YK tomorrow, 1st group leaving at 9. It is 162 miles, but there are apparently some stops on the way well worth a look. The campground is "dry camping"...basically no hook ups...so our Wagonmaster has announced there will be a campfire where we will be cooking "tube steaks"!! Should be fun. We leave there...

Jun 25, 2007 - Stewart Crossing, YT - The Klondike Loop

"We're on the Road Again".......yes, good-bye Whitehorse and we are headed north on the Alaska Highway but not for long. About 10 miles north, we turned on to the Klondike Loop. This is the road that links the capital of Whitehorse to Dawson City and the Klondike gold fields. It basically follows the old sleigh route traveled in winter by the fortune seekers of the gold rush days. The road tracks the mighty Yukon River through ranchland and open area.
