May 29, 2015 - Klondike River YT (Canada) - Klondike River Government Campground

Spent the night at this campground. No one else is here, so we wondered if it was open. Rog even called the park ranger to be sure we could be here, it’s that quiet. Got a couple of neighbors eventually, but it was strange when we first got here. Haven’t seen anything bigger than a squirrel for a couple of days, which makes Bridget happy. She loves squirrels.

Retired at Last!

Aug 4, 2007 - Whitehorse - Klondike River Lodge

Today we will be traveling on Hwy 2 to the junction with the Dempster Hwy, Hwy5. When we leave Whitehorse, we go on the Klondike Hwy (Hwy 2), and right out of town, Steve & Connor see a black bear, which unfortunately we can't stop for. The road is definitely not in as good a shape as the Alaska Hwy, several times we have to travel through seal coating and some potholes.
