Visited Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory today where we toured the SS Klondike. The ship ran freight between Whitehorse and Dawson City along the Yukon River from 1937-1950. Due to the construction of the Klondike highway connecting Dawson City and Whitehorse, many sternwheelers like the SS Klondike were decommissioned. In an attempt to save this particular ship, she was converted into a cruise ship. Retired at Last!

May 25, 2008 - Watson Lake Alaskan Hwy to Fox Lake Provencial Park, Klondike Hwy

Left at 8:25 AM. Stopped at Ranchera Falls Park, Milepost 1116 at 10:45 PM and hiked back to the falls. Got some cute pics of a red squirrel. These squirrels are half the size of our squirrels, but are Very vocal. It was a pleasant walk and sunny. We drove to White horse (capitol of the Yukon). It is Sunday so nothing was open, so we pasted thru except for gas. Besides, there is LOTS of daylight to burn. We decided to stop at Fox Lake park (Klondike Hwy) to “rough” it again.
