Aug 8, 2012 - Days 19 thru 25 - Lloydminister, SK

Well we have a bit of catching up to do. There is no internet in Banff or Jasper, although Parks Canada charges more than any other campground that has both internet and cable TV. Oh well that's Canada for you. The mountains were spectacular to say the least. In Banff we were in site # 747; it is some huge campground but not as many animals as Jasper. In Jasper we saw many Elk with young, Black bears with cubs, a large coyote or a small wolf traveling very fast. The elk are as tame as dogs or cats. The pictures I have attached were taken on...

May 13, 2012 - Lloydminster, SK/AB

Another beautiful travel day as we traveled by miles and miles of flat ground. I’ve now gotten fairly efficient with the metric systerm. I know that a speed sign that says 100 actually means 62 MPH. The kilometer reading on our speedometer is too small to read, so my job is quite important to convert and make sure my driver isn’t speeding. LOL! I’ve also learned that gas at 1.25, means $4.73/gallon (OUCH!). I wasn’t expecting any wildlife sightings this early in the trip - other than ducks, geese, and deer - but a moose watched us pass by...

Jun 20, 2010 - Happy Father's Day

I can't believe how fast the time is going. This time, last week, we were already on day 2 of driving. It's really quite sad that a month is going to fly by and we won't know where it went. So much will be done in so little time. I just hope that at some point, we can stop long enough to savor the moment of what is happening. Yesterday was a great day! I hung out with Chris, Nicole, Jesse and Mom. We did a bunch of shopping during the day and found a cute little outfit for Jesse to wear to the wedding. Rhonda hung out with Rosie and from...

Jun 19, 2010 - Lloydminster For The Weekend

Yesterday, we packed up the camper and headed into Lloydminster to park at the Weaver Park Campground to be closer to everyone here so we can get some visiting in. The campground is pretty nice and our actual spot is in the back where it's treed and we don't see any city traffic. But, they are building a new bathrooms/showers building so it's pretty noisy. But whatever, it will do. Later in the day, Rosie walked over for a visit. She lives only a few blocks away, which is pretty convenient for us. After a couple of beer, we headed over to...

Jun 17, 2010 - Catching Up On Sleep

For the past couple of days, we’ve been focusing on catching up on sleep. The last thing we need is to be over tired and get sick right before the wedding. That would not be good!! And thankfully our nights have been very restful. The jet lag feeling has pretty much left us, which is very exciting because what a horrible feeling that is. Yesterday we left Saskatoon and headed to Lloydminster where we met up with Rhonda’s bff, and maid-of-honor, Roseanne. We got to visit with her for a couple of hours, she had pizza already ordered because...

Jul 27, 2008 - Day 106 Lloydminster on border of AB

Day 106 Sunday 27th July Lloydminster on border of AB & SK 120 E2 Once again we said our farewells to Stuart Kelly & Hannah after spending 3 nights with them. It is always nice to time with the “locals” to get a quick appreciation of a place. Hannah is certainly a bundle of joy with smiles for everybody all day long. At just over three months she is already on the move, being able to shift herself around by using her legs to lift and pushing herself backwards whilst lying on her back. By the time we got ourselves organised we were on the...

May 19, 2008 - Another province

At 7:30 I talked to the travellers. They are almost to Alberta, 12 and 1/2 hours after leaving Minot. The Canadian border didn't open until 8 am so they had to wait a few minutes at the border before crossing. Sounds like some places here in Maine. They were just having a travelling snack, orange G2 and munchies, Kevin is the car waiter. Amelia says they have discussed the possibility of making a side trip to see other relatives on the way home (like in CA). Who knows where these people will end up!
