Jul 21, 2018 - Indian Head information

Indian Head got its name from Indian Head Hills where Indians that died from European diseases were buried. It became a town when the Canadian Pacific Railroad came through in 1882 on the flats, not the hills. The streets in town are laid out on angles following Grand Street, which was the direct route between Bell's farm and the grain elevators next to the railroad line. Bell's farm was so big and busy that passenger trains would stop so passengers could see farm activity! The Indian Head statue was placed at the Visitor Center in 1985 and...

Jun 19, 2017 - Pleasureway factory tour, Saskatoon to Indian Head, Saskatchewan

After a quick, McDonalds breakfast, we were on our way around 7. Along the way, we passed a pond with some swans on it. We headed to Saskatoon to tour the Pleasureway RV. It was so awesome to see how they make the motor homes. In listening to the rep talk and show us the RVs being made, we realized just how well made our motorhome is. We watched the workers assembling the RVs in different stages. At one point, it was time to change stations, and all of a sudden workers were driving the vehicles into the building where we were, like a parade...

May 22, 2017 - Indian Head

Yes, I’m still here. Today is a public holiday – Victoria Day. I can’t find out exactly what it’s for except it’s something to do with Queen Victoria. It sounds similar to our Queen’s Birthday. I’m progressing on my satellite dish problem but it looks like there’s an incompatibility between the receiver & the dish. There’s 2 providers here – Bell & Shaw. The receiver is Shaw & I think perhaps the dish is Bell. There’s a bloke in town who’s a dealer for both so I’ll talk to him first thing in the morning. It was a lovely day & I was quite...

May 21, 2017 - Indian Head

I was going to do a tourist loop today but one of the places I want to see doesn't open until tomorrow so I stayed home. Did some forward planning, looking at what I need to see in Manitoba & booked on the 4 day train journey from Toronto back to Vancouver in October. That really sounds like an amazing finish for this adventure & so much more fun than flying.

May 20, 2017 - Indian Head

Nothing interesting. Played with the satellite receiver but can’t get the dish to rotate all the way so I’m waiting for someone from the RV Park to get up on the roof & see what’s happening. I could do it myself but didn’t think they’d like me crawling around on the roof. Went for a walk into town which is very small & very quiet on a Saturday, then sat in the sun & read my book.

May 19, 2017 - Regina to Indian Head

A month today since I left home – it actually seems longer because I’ve seen & done so much in that time. I still miss Alexander though & hope he’s being good. No time for sightseeing today. Just a short 65 km trip up Highway 1 to the Post Office at Indian Head where my new satellite receiver was waiting for me. There was also another big box full of cables & stuff plus lots of instruction books for me to wade through. I decided to do some washing before I tackled the satellite & had 2 loads because I’d bought some new sheets & wanted to...

May 28, 2016 - Saskatchewan

Decided to have breakfast the trucker way..at Husky.Crossed into Saskatchewan at 10am with another time change. It is now raining & 10C. The sun comes out for a few hours then the clouds roll in again. Parkberg is the closest town to that "house on the hill" where we've been stopping to take pictures every time we drive through, since 2002. It still stands. It depends when you pass through a place as to how you preceive it. This is the earliest time of the year for us, and the fields are mostly last year's stubble. No knee high waving wheat...

May 6, 2016 - Swift Current to Indian Head

A very windy day on the highway, wrestling the trailer being blown across the highway, in spite of that we made it to Indian Head. After trying to locate another campground and nearly filing divorce papers. Indian Head is where Little Mosque On The Prairie is made, who knew! Turns out Rouleau (where Cornwr Gas was filmed) is quite run down, too bad, they could have made it quite the tourist stop, maybe? Visited the Moose Jaw tunnels, could only get the Chinese laundry tour, a bus load of school kids filled up the Capone tour before we got...

Apr 6, 2016 - We are home!

On Monday after spending the night in Edmond, Oklahoma north of Oklahoma City we spent the rest of the day sailing through the rest of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and most of South Dakota before stopping for the night at Aberdeen, South Dakota. It was a beautiful day. On Tuesday after putting on long pants, we continued our journey home. In Saskatchewan we ran into rain which then turned into snow. We arrived home about 6:30 and it was white when we got up this morning. So now we are busy unpacking and have discovered we left a tub of stuff...

Apr 13, 2014 - Made it home!

Well it took a while to get this last update done, finally found the camera. We made it through the border no problem and got to Ogema on Monday where we spent the night and had a nice visit with Don's Mom and Cindy. We left there early Tuesday morning and stopped in Regina for a few groceries and went home. There is still snow here but it is nice and sunny so it is melting fast. I have spent the last few days getting unpacked, cleaning the house and going through the bagful of mail. It is nice to be home and see everyone again, especially...

Nov 25, 2013 - Leaving today (if we can get it all together!)

Well Grey Cup is over and Shelly is exhausted and looking forward to sitting for 3 days. Stuff is sitting all over just waiting to be loaded in the van. So as soon as he is gone and leftover food is distributed, one last coffee date, wash clothes, drain the water and load the van we will be ready to start our trip. We will try and keep you updated as to how our trip is going. If we are lucky we will make it to the park for Thanksgiving...

On the road around 9:30 and it was already 64 degrees Buddy is in shorts and t-shirts, I’m not quite ready for that, maybe tomorrow, we traveled East on TransCanada Hwy 1 stopping in Regina, Saskatchewan to go through the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) Museum, also this is where every RCMP trains for 6 months to become one, also the museum had a lot of history, on our tour we walked into the beautiful chapel they have, and the first pew is reserved for the queen no one is ever allowed to sit there, our tour guide said she was here...
