Wow, Quebec City is so pretty! The old town is fortified and is (I think) the only fortified city in North America, north of Mexico, with it's walls still standing. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1985 and I can see why. Everywhere you look there are cobbled streets, period buildings and incredible architecture. This year is the 400th aanniversary of the city and the locals are rightly very proud. Obviously going north in the winter was destined to bring a drop in temperatures. I didn't think I could cope with anything colder but...

Sep 26, 2007 - Canadian Moonlit Night

I hope you'll enjoy some of my photos. We had driven from Lake Placid to outside of Quebec City and I had a sleepless night so I decided to get up and play with the camera. All these pictures were taken around midnight and playing with the exposure on the camera. I love how fast the clouds were moving.

Aug 12, 2007 - QUEBEC CITY

We made our way to Quebec City in Province of Quebec. Quebec, by law, is French speaking. So all things French including traffic signs, stores, etc. That was fun trying to figure out traffic signs, especially road work and congestion. We picked a campground that was about 12 miles from town on a back road that was a washboard!! Campground did have some nice hiking trails. Went into Quebec City to old town and fort section. Quebec is built on top of granite bluffs to repel raiders. The fort is built on a star pattern so that cannon balls...
