Aug 4, 2013 - Ottawa (ON) to Hudson (QC)

This morning we had breakfast at 6:30 am amongst the Changing of the Guard troops who had just completed their training on the Carleton University campus. There was considerable excitement among many of them, as today was to be their first live performance in front of Parliament. Mike R. then arrived to lead us out of Ottawa and, once we had loaded our gear into the truck and returned our keys, we all left together at about 7:30 am. We went North along the Rideau Canal, stopping for photos in front of Parliament, then continued on Sussex...

Aug 11, 2012 - Hudson, Quebec

Day Fifty Two – Aug 11 Hudson 165k The clouds hung low over Ottawa. It had rained the previous evening and the morning promised more rain. I carried my gear from my residence room to the truck and then went and had breakfast. All that was left was to get my bike out of the room, return the room key and then hit the road. I left for the day’s ride at the same time as Chrisk. He was on cook duty for the evening and wanted to leave early and get to camp early. He had one planned stop which I obliged him on. He wanted a photo of him in front...

Ontario was great but it was a long ride across so it is nice to enter province number six as we head for Newfoundland! Very long day in the saddle but the weather was great and the scenery was super. We crossed the Ottawa river twice by ferry to reach Hudson and the camp. We cycled with Jane and Fred all day and while the wind was no factor we did make good use of the pace...

Aug 11, 2008 - 51 Hudson QC -- Our Sixth Province

This was the longest day of the tour and I started behind the starting line since home is 9km from Carleton University. Actually I went downtown to link up with Bud's route and so only had a few kilometers more than the official distance. Still, by the end of the day I had ridden over 180km. The day started dry as I headed down familiar routes to downtown, along Sussex Drive and onto the Rockcliffe Parkway. Then we headed through some of suburbia and headed to the Ottawa River. Our route took us essentially down the river on back roads to...
