May 18, 2012 - Conclusion - Retour a la maison

Sep 7, 2011 - Gatineau Park
Day 2 saw us heading back over the river into Quebec to Gatineau Park. We all felt we needed a bit of nature. Gatineau Park was one of the earlier areas to be considered as a national park due to concerns that the Gatineau Hills were being stripped of trees in the 1930’s. Prime Minister Mackenzie King a cottage owner spoke passionately to Parliament. In 1938 the government purchased the first few properties to start the park The Park is now 88,000 acres and managed by the National Capital Commission. After getting our bearings our first...

Jun 25, 2011 - Belleville, Ontario
Although it is only 250 miles from Gatineau, Quebec to Toronto, Ontario, our next destination, we decided to have a leisurely drive and stay overnight in a small town, Belleville on Lake Ontario, on the way to Toronto. Since we arrived in Belleville in the early afternoon and found comfortable accommodations quite easily, ##photo=2 - Waterfront park #1## ##photo=3 - Waterfront park #2## we were able to take a lovely walk along the waterfront. ##photo=4 - Indian restaurant #1## ##photo=5 - Indian restaurant #2## Then we were lucky enough...

Jul 15, 2010 - More People and Horses
The Canadian Museum of Civilization Thursday afternoon We spent the afternoon in Gatineau, Quebec, visiting the Canadian Museum of Civilization. We had two hours to see a museum that could keep you entertained for a week. Highlights were their exhibits on First Nation People and Cultures, and a special exhibit devoted to the Horse. It was a day for horses, and the exhibit only added to our admiration for this fantastic animal friend. We caught the Tour Bus back to Ottawa and ended the day with a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral and a leisurely...

Jul 31, 2009 - "Home sweet home" !
Quel voyage...

Sep 9, 2007 - Our First Day
We had a lovely evening in the airport hotel after our friend, Sue, dropped us off. Both of us have been so very weary that we went to sleep quite early and still Mike slept in until our wakeup call. The plane ride was uneventful with both of us dozing at one point or another. We were both so excited to arrive and to drive to our hotel across the river from Ottawa in Quebec! In the end, we'll have been in five provinces counting our own. We are staying at the Chateau Cartier in Gatineau, Quebec. Mike lost his breath when he saw the hotel....
