May 21, 2017 - Saguenay - Baie-Comeau - Matane

Jul 4, 2013 - Along the fjord

Another day, another wonderful adventure. First of all, thank you to Roger for filling in for me yesterday. He is a journalist and took great pleasure in creating a blog entry for me. It is fun to read about our trip from another's perspective. Although it is not a holiday here in Canada, we did our best to have a good time. Our camping area in the tourist info parking lot was a bit noisy last night (who knew that they would be emptying dumpsters at 1:00 am?) so we decided to move today. We got the Treks ready to roll and then left them in...

Jul 3, 2013 - North to Saguenay

Roger is "hijacking" the blog today: Bonjour to you all, Jeanne is off today. As the host and tour guide, I take the relay to report from another angle the "Sleeps Two odyssey" up north in the beautiful province of Québec. So far, so good and maybe better than expected. Our visitors are going from one surprise discovery to another. The Eastern Townships, just across the Vermont border offered an exceptional visit to the JA Bombardier Museum, the father of the snowmobile. 2 hours VIP tour in english made it memorable to our guest. Then up...

Sep 20, 2009 - Chicoutimi, QC (Day 2) - A Relaxing Sunday

(Ron Writing) I think “Indian Summer” has arrived in Quebec. It was gorgeous today. Sunny, no wind, and the temperature was in the mid 70’s. We spent a quiet day relaxing. Elena made delicious ham and cheese omelets for breakfast and then we listened to a CD recording of Pastor Glenn teaching our fellowship group back in California. It’s useless attending church here since everything is in French and also we don’t see any Protestant churches. We were surprised to find that the Wal*Mart where we are parked is part of a very large indoor...

Sep 19, 2009 - Chicoutimi, QC - Saguenay River Scenic Drive

(Ron Writing) It was a cool sunny morning as we set out on today’s adventure. We drove over to the ferry wharf in Riviere-du-Loup and got in line for the noon ferry across the St. Lawrence to St-Simeon, QC. It was very windy while we were waiting to board the ferry and the water looked very rough. But, once we got out away from shore there seemed to be less wind and the ferry rode very smoothly. We also had WiFi on the ferry so we could keep busy updating our travel journal and reading email. The crossing took just 65 minutes. From...
