Jun 25, 2018 - Travel to Beloeil, Quebec, Canada

We were on the road by 10 this morning. It was another beautiful day. Today is a holiday for Quebec. Most of the cars and RVs going north were from Quebec. We expected the border to be busy. We ate lunch at a rest area. We arrived at the border about 1:15 and there were four lanes with a line of traffic in each. Of course, we chose the one that moved along the most slowly. When it was our turn, we learned quickly why the line moved so slowly. The agent was very conversational. Thought for a minute we were going to be served coffee. He was...

Jun 20, 2013 - Montreal Parks and Railroad Museum

Yesterday we finally manage a family outing. We drove into Montreal and into Mount Royal Park where we parked near Beaver Lake for some walking and lunch. Annie and I went off through the woods while Sue explored the road more traveled. Both of us found the main overlook spot at Kondiaronk Belvedere where there is beautiful semi circular court and an overview of Montreal. After returning to the Honda we next drove toward the St. Lawrence River and to Jean-Drapeau Park located on St. Helen and Notre Dame Islands. By the time we parked on St....

Jun 18, 2013 - Sainte-Julie and Chambly

We settled in at Camping Alouette on Friday. It is an outstanding campground with full 50-amp hookups, good wifi, and an open sky for Direct TV. Having spent two weeks in Montreal two years ago, we have no urgency to do a great deal of sightseeing while we are here and some rainy weather is also discouraging us. Our See Ya fixit list is growing with a dead TV, missing slide out awning, broken screen door latch, and torn main awning. But we are delaying action on these until at least next week in Quebec City. On Saturday we went to mass at...

Jun 14, 2013 - Montreal

Today we made the relatively short drive from Kingston to Camping Alouette southeast of Montreal. Despite a newly completed bypass route 30, the traffic around Montreal was very slow. But we have arrived at this excellent campground where we spent a couple of weeks two years ago.

Jul 22, 2012 - Entering Canada at Saint Jean to Beloeil on Richeleiu River

The Chambly Canal and locks were a real treat - lots of work - but so charming and the people were so friendly and helpful. Dock tenders always walked by and gave Camden a head rub or some other sign of affection. They seemed happy to practice their English with us and talk a bit about our trip or our vessel. The original towpath is located between the canal and the river and is now a popular recreation path for walking and biking. A note about our entry into Canada. In preparation for this event we disposed of MUCH liquor by giving it...

Jul 26, 2011 - Jeep trouble

We had left HL and gone to a nearby campground for the night. The next day we had intended to get back on the road and had planned our journey, including unusually for us booking a couple of campgrounds ahead. As usual him up there had a different view! We came to hook up the Jeep to the coach and found the Part Time light was remaining on all the time and the transfer case would not properly go into neutral for towing. We found a Jeep dealer and they diagnosed we needed a new transfer case switch. They could get the part in but they could...

Sep 12, 2007 - To St. Mathieu de Beloeil, Quebec

This morning the sun was shining and the temperature was in the low 60s. We were on the road by 9:30 or so and had a nice drive all the way. We stopped at the Quebec welcome center to pick up maps and brochures. The lady who helped us spoke very good English and was very knowledgable and helpful. We arrived at Camping Alouette in St. Mathieu de Beloeil around 2:30. This is a very nice Good Sam park. This year the hosts are celebrating their 30th year and, because we are staying three nights, they gave us a very nice canvas tote bag. We...
